Human Raters At Google Rate Spanking Porn “Less Relevant”

If you’ve run a erotic spanking site for a lot of years and paid any attention to Google and the way it displays your site in the search results, you’ll have noticed some bizarre and erratic fluctuations. Creepy sites about bad parenting practices tend to rate well above even the best erotic spanking pages, and even among the spanking porn, odd old neglected sites flourish in the search results while the most active erotic spanking sites seem to get buried.

Now via Violet Blue comes word (via this article) that Google employs a horde of outsourced human “raters” to look at pages and code them for “relevancy” with regard to various searches. That’s not news. The news is that a reporter got his hands on a copy of a 160-page Google “rater’s manual” — and it specifically used “spanking” as an example keyword to Google’s army of work-at-home raters:

Google’s human raters must also make decisions on pornographic material. Here, too, the Google Rater has to decide what the searcher’s intention is. The example of “spanking” is cited: information on parents spanking children from the University of Maine is regarded as “relevant”, a page about spanking fetish is “Slightly Relevant” and triggers the Porn flag. Porn is still deemed relevant – just not so much.

“Please do not assign a Porn flag to a non-porn page, just because the query has porn intent. If the landing page is not porn, it should not be flagged”, says the guide.

It’s no surprise that Google tries (and fails) to bury porn in its search results. But it is disheartening (if not surprising) to learn that spanking porn, specifically, takes a search engine hit because of a policy defining it as “less relevant” than pages about shitty parenting. It doesn’t matter, friends, what you want to see; what matters is that Google has decided (as a matter of corporate policy) that people typing in “spanking” are more likely looking for that shitty parenting info.

In The Breast Caning Warehouse

Poor Coral Aorta — she has a master who keeps her chained up in a warehouse most of the time. And yet she still tries to be pretty for him when he arrives:

How does he reward her? About how you’d expect: with breast canings!

Parochial School Girls Punished

A more surly and rebellious lot of misbehaved religious-school girls you would have to travel far and wide to find.

And why would you travel so far? Well, perhaps you have a special passion for correcting them, and improving their attitudes:

This fellow? He’s got that special passion:

And a good thing too, because the freckle-faced redhead is the ringleader, and she’s a fighter!

Fortunately, her rebellious attitude is nothing that a good thrashing with a cane can’t cure…

Spanking Scrapbook #2: He Dreams Of Her Whipping

Another “artist unknown” illustration from that packet of spanking-publication pages I received a few weeks ago. If I’m looking at it right, a man (or a boy) sleeps and dreams of a woman’s ruthless whipping at the hands of some brutal sailors:

Bible-Spanked Catholic Schoolgirls

Such nice girls! Sweet, pious, well-behaved, a joy to their parents, a credit to society, gems of their church:

two cute catholic schoolgirls praying

Er, right?

catholic schoolgirl busted for drawing a filthy cartoon about her slut nun teacher

Hmm. That’s a disappointment. Some unresolved behavior issues, clearly. What this situation needs is a stern nun who is willing to beat some sense into them with a bible. This is not a metaphor:

spanked with a bible by a vicious nun

Unfortunately, once you get past the symbolism a bible makes a lousy spanking paddle. So our heroic nun takes up the iconic implement of her profession: the ruler!

It turns out she’s got some serious two-ruler kung-fu spanking mojo going, too:

However, the re-education of these naughty young spanked Catholic schoolgirls cannot be completed without individualized spanking attention; it’s just not possible!

All the images in this little morality play are from Whipped Ass. A short trailer for the Sins Of The Flesh shoot offers more such delights, but be warned: it’s considerably more salacious, in the best tradition of anti-clerical pornography going back hundreds of years.

A “Normal, Relatively Rare, Mostly Explicable” Spanking Fetish

That New York Times article on spanking has prompted sex educator and blogger Emily Nagoski to write a post about the spanking fetish in women:

Our brains are HUGE, vast, unprecedented things. They are remarkable for their profound plasticity; they learn and build connections between things in ways we are only just barely beginning to understand. The consequence of our wrinkly brains’ hunger to build connections between experiences is that every individual has a slightly different view of the world, built from the links the brain has constructed through a lifetime of neural plasticity, a lifetime of cascading connections.

And sometimes that results in things like really, really loving to be spanked. Other times it results in becoming obsessed with collecting Longaberger baskets or in being an actor who thrives on the attention of thousands of people. Normal, relatively rare, and mostly explicable – though, as always, there is more science to be done.

One thing I stumbled on in her post was this line: “It is relatively rare for a woman to develop such a strong and specific fetish – rare compared to men, that is.” It hasn’t been my experience that there are more men with the spanking fetish than women, but Emily is very science-based, so I’m sure she has numbers to support her proposition that men in general are more likely to have a “strong and specific” fetish than women are. The key thing: there are lots of “strong and specific” fetishes out there; the ones more men have don’t have to be spanking fetishes for Emily’s statement to be true.

But they could be! My experience has been accumulated in my (mostly virtual) community, centered on this blog and others like it. This blog focuses on the erotic spanking of women by men. It’s been my observation that there’s no huge disparity betweeen “women who want to be spanked by men” and “men who want to spank women”; in fact, my sense is that the women are slightly more numerous than the men in that comparison. But a better comparison might be “women who want to be spanked by somebody” and “men who want to be spanked by somebody” and there, I don’t have data. Men who want to be spanked by women are a big enough group to support (in part) a professional dominatrix class in every American city; the converse is emphatically not true. Bethie runs a spanking personal site for men who want to be spanked that picks up one or two members every day with essentially zero marketing, so that’s a data point. It could very easily be the case that men who want to be spanked vastly outnumber women who want to be spanked, but for them to remain less visible “in our community” because “our community” mostly doesn’t include them.

Update: revised the post because of a brain flail; I had typed “more women with the spanking fetish than men” when I meant to type “more men with the spanking fetish than women”. Fixed now, apologies for confusion.
