The Real Time Bondage site turns out to be quite a bit more interesting than I’d thought at first glance. What they do is turn periodic BDSM photoshoots into an interactive event, where the members contribute commentary and input throughout the shoot (via the web) and participate in deciding precisely which BDSM indignities and humiliations the model will suffer next. Very often, these indignities are painful; spankings and canings are frequently featured, and are usually severe or at least quite prolonged. They’ve been doing these Real Time Bondage interactive shoots since 2009, so there’s over a hundred sessions recorded on video and in pictures that are available to members.
The pictures of this vintage schoolroom punishment scene were all over the vintage and spanking corners of Usenet when I first started paying attention so many years ago. Of course, in the web era, they’re all over the web. Before UseNet, they were endlessly republished in spanking magazines (for example, one of them is in Spank Hard #2 from 1984) and sometimes in more mainstream porn magazines. Micheal Masterson, the founder and proprietor of the Real Spankings family of porn sites, is on record that one of these pictures was the first spanking photo he ever saw (he was 11, and the picture was in Penthouse).
This is an example of the kind of vintage spanking pictures that I’m often tempted to repost — but sometimes, I can resist the temptation. Typically I want something more in a post than “here is a grainy little vintage spanking picture that you’ve seen a hundred times before.” What pushed me over the edge was finding the three of these in a set at Beaky’s Spanking Blog [link broken and removed], at a slightly better size and in a better-than-usual state of modern digital repair:

P.S. This post took forever to assemble because I made the mistake of typing “vintage spanking” into the Spanking Blog search box to see if I’d posted these before. 24 pages later, I was all “what was I doing again?”
In order to put together the “see also” links on that motorized cane post from earlier this morning, I had to look through all the spanking machine posts that have ever appeared on Spanking Blog. (Ah, the rough working life of the dedicated spanking blogger!) And when I saw the picture in the Industrial Spanking Machine post of the old-school belt-driven whipping machine punishing at least half a dozen women who are shackled in punishment position under the watchful eye of a severe-looking headmaster type, it triggered my memory of having fruitlessly searched high and low for a better quality image when I first posted that one.
Well, that was 2007 and the state of the art in image searching has advanced considerably since then. Also, they will keep putting stuff on the internet. So, I went and looked again. And here it is (don’t forget to click for the biggest version):
The title or caption in German is given as “Meine Erfindung – Phantasiezeichnung eines sadistischen Intelektuellen” — which me and Google working together translate as “My invention – An Intellectual’s Sadistic Fantasy Drawing”. As always, cunning linguists and native speakers are welcome to chime in with better translation efforts in the comments! Within the artwork itself, you can see the caption “Strafraum III” from which I get the “Punishment Room 3” title for this post.
I found the new big version of the art here along with an article in German that suggests it comes from a German-language coffee table book called Sündiges Berlin: Die Zwanziger Jahre; Sex, Rausch, Untergang. (That would be something like Sinful Berlin: The Twenties; Sex, Drugs, Destruction). That book in turn may (or may not, though I suspect it is) be a German-published version of Voluptuous Panic: The Erotic World of Weimar Berlin.
While searching for something else (I swear) I stumbled across Haron prophesying in an old Spanking Writers post: “It’ll be a motorised cane next.” And I’m thinking “Good idea!” when I saw this comment from “Girl”:

Sorry, Girl! We need to get this idea out there so that some brilliant pervert can implement it — and send us pictures. Sore test bottoms (so long as they aren’t mine) are a cheap price to pay for this sort of brilliant innovation in spanking machinery!
