This is from a French graphic novel called Zopeye le Mandrin by Gast. If following along just by looking at the pictures has not led me astray, it’s a story featuring Popeye re-imagined as a mailman with erectile difficulties. Spinach does not do the trick, but there’s a certain tonic that will, when available. When it’s not available, whipping (or being whipped) will also do the trick for him, which is how we find him in a brothel whipping the ladies with his rolled up pants.
