The villagers seem to be making quite a festival out of the cudgeling of the village hussy, even if the dour old coot with the stick is determined not to get any joy out of it:
I dunno, a pure “unpopularity contest” seems a little bit dull to me. Put a little bit of randomness in there like in “The Lottery” and it might be even more fun. Innocence chastised has a charm all its own!

I hope it’s a monthly tradition. Everyone votes for who’s the sluttiest village hussy and deserves it the most.
