Anime Girl Punishment

This looks like an entertaining Japanese title. Can anybody out there confirm if it’s as amusing as the very promising cover suggests it might be?

From Usenet.

Update: A reader emails that “If you’re going to buy it to see spankings you’ll be very, very disappointed. That is because there isn’t a single spanking taking place. The general plot of the movie is this. A teacher who no student is respecting is set up for a cruel joke/hoax and the five girls who set him up get punished for it. However the punishment have more to do with bondage/sex and nothing to do with spanking.”

Quality Leather Spanking Toys

New toys are fun. A couple of weeks ago Patty posted a link to Leather Thorn Paddles along with a note that the craftsmanship was very good for the price. I took a look, and the work looked good, so I ordered a paddle for Bethie and a strap for my amusement. (I’ve been wanting a big mean-looking leather strap.)

The prices weren’t cheap in the abstract — perhaps a few bucks more than generic paddles or straps ordered from a major online retailer — but I was blown away by the quality. These things are thick slabs of leather, attractively tooled and comfortable in the hand. Bethie has posted pictures on her blog and on her new spanking forum, so I won’t belabor the point. Suffice it to say that I’ve never been happier with an online toy order. (And no, I haven’t received a dime for these words of praise — Leather Thorn Paddles is not an advertiser, and I paid full price for the paddle and strap.)

The strap deserves a few more words. It’s got a handle that feels like a sword pommel when you grasp it, and it’s got the weight and size of a medium-sized wooden fraternity paddle. But, being leather, it’s got just enough flexibility to wrap in and *smack* all the way across Bethie’s bottom, rather than delivering all its energy across just a few inches the way an inflexible narrow paddle does. Swung with any vigor at all, it leaves a broad red mark and a persistant “warm spot” I can feel with my hand hours later. So far I’ve only given Bethie a few playful strokes with it. That, however, will not forever be the case….

Spanking Video Reviews Policy

Patty of A Creative Spanked Wife has posted a nice review of the spanking video The Schoolmaster’s Revenge (which I also liked when I reviewed it). Patty also includes some commentary about spanking video reviews in general, and makes one very good point: sites that focus on reviewing spanking videos don’t always have the best interests of the consumer in mind, and may not tell you if a video stinks.

Since I sometimes review videos on Spanking Blog (and cheerfully accept review copies from spanking video producers — consider this a big “hint hint nudge nudge” to the outfits who aren’t sending me review copies yet) I figure I owe you all a statement of my review policy.

Which is, simply: Life is too short to write bad reviews. If a video stinks, I don’t want to waste my time writing a bad review. And you won’t see the review here. Truly bad spanking videos should languish in well-deserved obscurity, without any extra attention from me.

Mind you, I’ve never seen a perfect spanking video. These are usually low-budget semi-amateur projects in the porn industry, in a niche without many experienced actors, directors, or videographers. There are always things not to like. So my strategy is to lead with what I liked about the video, then include a section on what I didn’t like, and wrap up with a summary that acknowledges the defects but emphasizes what I liked. The net result is a positive-sounding review (or I won’t write it) that also identifies whatever I didn’t like so much about the movie.

Bottom line: Video reviews are my honest opinion. I’m not for sale — or, at least, not for the retail value of a porn video.

For A Firmer Hand Spanking

What a delightful idea! If she likes hand spanking, but tends to laugh it off when she gets it, you’ll want to get on board. Thanks, Matt!

The Spanking Tapestry

Claire has found and posted the most wonderful detail from a sixteenth-century French tapestry:

Bethie’s New Spanking Forum

Wooohoo! Big news, long awaited: Bethie has finally opened the doors and turned on the lights of her new Spanking Den, a spanking forum / discussion board / bulletin board. It’s brand spanking new (heh!) so you’ll want to sign right up (posting is for registered users only, but registration is completely free) and start some spanking conversations.

I haven’t spent much time on the spanking boards since I met Bethie, especially since the board I used to frequent had some moderator trouble that made me feel like I was living in Soviet Russia. (Posts and even whole threads used to disappear without a trace, and I’d find myself questioning my own sanity: “Wasn’t there a thread about whalebone crops here yesterday?” ) Anyway, I miss the free-form exchanges and light-hearted banter that gets going on a good discussion board, so I’m hoping Bethie’s board will take off and become a roaring success. Please check it out!

Spanking In Penthouse

There’s an entertaining “mainstream” article (by the prolific Rachel Kramer Bussel) about spanking in the May 2005 edition of Penthouse Magazine. Rachel writes at length (for a mostly vanilla audience) about the pleasures of spanking, emphasizing the fun along with the fact that it’s really not scary-kinky like some of the more rigorous BDSM practices out there.

There’s not too much that’s new in the article for commited spanking pervs like myself, but it would be an excellent introduction to the idea for (say) a man who hasn’t been into spanking. So ladies, if you’ve been trying to get your man to spank you, you might want to slide this magazine subtly into his “collection” (or, for a more direct approach, read the article aloud to him). Good luck!

And Rachel, thank you very much for the kind mention of Spanking Blog in the article. I know that the printed men’s magazines don’t have so big a readership as they did when I was a young man, but there’s still something very exciting about seeing something I did (My site! Mentioned in Penthouse!) in a magazine I’ve been “reading” (on and off) since I was thirteen.
