Poking The Koala Bear
I think Codie’s perspective on male patience will resonate with many people here:
You know what I learned early on by dating a really serious, strong man? You just don’t test a man’s patience and then audition for the role of victim when it finally runs out.
I tried all of this early on in my relationship and it made me miserable. Because you can’t poke, prod and cross lines and then act stunned when his voice drops an octave.
A good man like my husband, he’ll be patient and gentle and forgiving, because he’s trying to protect me and you from all the rough edges. But especially with men, I’ve realized patience is not an infinite resource.
You know, I jokingly often call it Chris’s credit line. And when you keep swiping at it with disrespect, eventually the bill comes due. So you can’t get mad when a man is stern and serious after being poked and prodded. I jokingly say “Even a koala bear is still a bear.”
