Ancient graffiti is always fascinating, but doubly so when it says:

“Slaves will be beaten on their behinds.”

Turns out, if you examine the context, it’s from a warning about the penalties for defecating near a public water distribution tower (one of those utilitarian fountain things that Roman cities had).
