Another source suggests it’s a decoration from a misericorde (prayer bench) at De Oude Kerk in Amsterdam.

    I was just going by the habit, which may just be fashion ignorance on my part. The other source also says it’s a man being whipped, which I think is dubious based on the visual presentation.
