Ping Pong Paddling

Who knows their old movies? This looks like a publicity shot to me, but it’s a real cute one:

As always, if it’s from a movie, I’d like to know which one.

Now don’t quote me on this, but I think this is the movie “Walking My Baby Back Home” with Donald O’Connor (the young man holding the paddle in the picture) and Gloria De Haven (the lucky young lady about to recieve first serve).

It was one of a dozen or so movies O’Connor and De Haven made, and I believe there were a few spanking scenes in some of them (but that was long ago, my friend, in my “movie maven” days).

Hope it at least helps you to trace a lead to the movie you’re looking for.

Sending you Peace and to Bethie, many spankings,

    Chev

The publicity still with the ping-pong crowd is from “This is the Life”, a 1944 comedy/musical with Donald O’Connor. I think that’s Angela Rutherford about to get it. Can I send you an uncropped version of it?

I love your site; thanks for all the hard work it takes.
    Cordially,
    Choda

Sounds like Chev was close and Choda is closer. Thanks to you both!

Yes Choda, please do send along the uncropped version. The version I cropped/reduced for this post was only a tiny bit better than what you see. I appreciate it!

Great site. I find myself reminded of a past principal of my gradeschool. Now she is a mature woman, but I still remember her paddling me. I would have never said anything, but one day my wife and I met her at a fundraiser. I wasn’t drunk, but felt liberated enough to add the introduction…”And honey, this was first woman to spank me with a paddle.” Instead of making an ass of myself, she looked intrigued. She inquired of me, “So has anyone paddled you lately?”. I thought she was meaning *because-I-was-bad-I-got-paddled*, so I responded with, “Yes, but I hate when I have to pay for it.” To which she smiled seductively and cooed back, “Maybe you won’t.”

No! The young lady about to feel the paddle in that publicity still is DEFINITELY Susanna Foster. This I know with absolute certainty. At the moment I’m writing this I’m drawing a blank on the name of the movie, though I know this was a posed publicity still and, as I understand it, there was no actual spanking in the film. However, Ms. Foster WAS indeed furiously spanked by Alan Jones and Lynn Overman (yes, both of them) in “There’s Magic in Music” (which is also sometimes known as “Hard Boiled Canary”). Thanks.

The movie was “This is the Life”. Susanna Foster plays Angela Rutherford, a country girl who gets an inheritance and heads for the bright lights to chase an army surgeon. Donald O’Connor plays her jilted boyfriend who goes after her.
