Punishment After The Lesson

The recitations have clearly gone rather poorly:

school punishment

If you click through to the larger captioned version, the bottom caption says (in German) “Punishment after the lesson” and there’s a top caption I can’t make out well enough to feed into Google Translate. Artist is Richard Hegemann.

Hi, Text at the TOP is ” Pobacken in Nöten”, This mean butt cheeks (or Ass) in trouble.

The literal translation reads “8 fart cheeks in distress”.

Well the fart is wrong. Must be a wrong translation for “Po” which is a diminutive or childish way to refer to a bottom. translated word by word it’s 8 butt cheeks in needs (meaning in this case trouble/distress or something similar)

The resolution is not good enough to be sure, but I did read it as “Pupsbacken” (the letter after P certainly looks more like a u than an o to me) in which case my translation would be correct. I’ll grant you it could also mean “Popobacken”, however, which I would translate as “butt checks”.
