That is the one tradition that makes me feel sorry for living in the northern part of German-speaking Europe. Our Knecht Ruprecht is by far more tame when it comes to actually spanking the bad ones! (ans of course Krampus looks way cooler!
Knecht Ruprect comes with that very interesting bundle of switches though. I remember seeing them for sale, all tied up with a red ribbon in the store windows before Christmas time, and being soooooo tempted to buy some!
