ID This Japanese Movie?

A reader sent me this YouTube movie clip link with a request for help identifying the movie it comes from. The clip involves a fully-clothed, very emotional caning scene, from which this is a screen capture:

It’s a japanese movie. Its name is “the step mother”. In japanese, it’s called “継母”.

  2. Saro commented on September 15th, 2009:

Could Goldenday or someone else transliterate the Japanese name please.

  3. John commented on September 16th, 2009:

The title is in Korean alphabetic (“Hangul”) script, not Japanese! I don’t pretend to understand Korean, but the last two syllables are something like “Ron Do”, which might be a transliteration from Japanese or maybe a reference to an English or other Western word.

  4. OnceBitten commented on September 16th, 2009:

Yeh, basically the stepmom finds out that the girl’s been sneaking out to see her boyfriend, and wants to cane her. The girl refuses, so the stepmom threatens to tell her father. The girl gives in and gets caned. Then the stepmom finds out that she slept with her boyfriend, so canes her some more.

  5. Saro commented on September 17th, 2009:

Korean title literally from a Hangul translator = New wind justice ron do

The description in the video is in Japanese — from Babelfish = “punishment in rondo of wind”

Rondo refers to Italian or French rondo/rondeau. There’s a Jap. anime called Rondo.

What a great clip. It’s interesting how the story of the scene is conveyed even without knowing the language. There’s an intuitive sense to the dialogue and the action. The ending really got me, as well. I thought the punishment was over, when clearly a new piece of damning information was revealed that brought about the harsh conclusion.

  7. Google Translation commented on September 23rd, 2009:

    Google Translate with autodetect yields:

    Ron and Xinfeng

  8. korean title commented on September 24th, 2009:

The Korean title is a Korean transcription of the Japanese title “新.風のロンド”, which means “New (Series): Rondo of Wind”. [新=new, 風=wind, の=’s, ロンド=Rondo”]
