Spanking In Literature

I greatly enjoyed Neal Stephenson’s recent book Quicksilver, but somehow I didn’t notice this line from page 374:

“You look very young,” he said, “and you talk like a girl who is in need of a spanking.”

“Books of India,” she said coolly, “have entire chapters about that.”

Thanks to Hairbrush Action for being more alert.

I’ve been a Neal Stephenson fan for a long time. He manages to work in at least one bdsm reference in every book. Thats not the only one in Quicksilver.
